2011 – This was a good year!

29 Dez

I have to say, this year was pretty awesome.

1. I found a new job I really, really love and I am so thankful for that.

2. Me and my family and friends all stayed healthy and nobody suffered from anything serious, and that is the most important thing in the world.

3. I found a new way of lifestyle through cutting out animals from my plate.

So for this year was so nice, here is my favorite list of 2011

No excuses!

26 Sep

Hello everyone,

already more than two weeks since my last post. I am so sorry, I was neglecting the Blog in the past few weeks. First there was all the wedding planning and then a lot of work stuff, but that is no excuse! I promise I will work on my timing and do my best to post frequently again.

So, here an update over my last two weeks:

I wrote to you the last time from Mallorca, where we celebrated the 30th birthday of my very close friend Steffi. We had a wonderful time there, enjoyed the beach and good food. And I even got a nice tan in this 3 days.

When I came back from the trip I was glad, that after all the wedding stuff, there was another big thing to plan (for I love planning): Our Honeymoon! I think I told you, that after our wedding we just went to Hamburg for a short trip, because our actual Honeymoon takes place in South Africa. This week I booked all the accommodations. We are going on a 3 weeks trip around Cape Town, the Winelands and the Garden Route. I am so excited, the guesthouses and lodges we booked, look so amazing.

On Monday I went to a Kate Nash concert with my good friend Christina. Christina also sent me the link to this super cute animated video of the song “Nicest Thing”. Isn’t it adorable?

The rest of the time I have been busy planning an event for my company, that took place yesterday.

So today I will just relax, have a nice breakfast, read and maybe go running (another thing I neglected the last weeks).

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and you can get enough energy for the upcoming week.

Germany 12 points!

30 Mai

Dear readers,

I don’t know, if you, when you are outside of Europe, ever heared of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is an annual competiton that takes place since 1956.

Nearly all countries of Europe compete with a song and the single countries vote for their favorite and give points, the highest rating is 12 points.

When I was small I always watched it with my parents, and Germany only won one time 28 years ago, with this song of Nicole (isn’t she cute?):

Since then no German band or performer came close to winning it again – til yesterday!!!

Singer Lena, who was casted in a television show, lined up for Germany with her song Satellite and won the whole thing. I couldn’t believe it, it was so surreal to hear the hosts from the different countries say the long-awaited sentence “Germany 12 points”, and that so often.

Today everybody is totally flashed from this event and it is the number one topic everywhere.

So, that is the music video of Satellite – what do you think of the song? I think it is very, very catchy:

Gettin’ ready for Soccer World Cup 2010

25 Mai

Okay, I have to admit, that I am one of this girls that are only interested in Soccer when there is a huge event to participate in. Like the World Cup that already starts in about 2 weeks. That brings back old memories from the last Cup 4 years ago which took place here in Germany and I have to say, it was one of the best Summers I ever had. Even the weather was awesome, everybody was in a great mood for celebrating with other people. A whole new experience of public viewing, like you can see on the pics:

So now I am gettin’ excited because the opening of the World Cup is getting closer. I already bought me and my sweetheart a panini album. I don’t know if this is just a German thing. But in this albums you have all the teams and players listed and you buy little packs of stickers (you don’t know which players are in the pack) and collect and trade them with others. We did this in our childhood and 4 years ago we rediscovered it again, it is so much fun. Nearly all of our friends collect as well. That is a great way to get ready for the Cup and by the way you get to know the players. Perfect for me!

What about you? Are you also looking forward to the World Cup?

Precious Memories on Mother's Day

9 Mai

Today I visited my Mum and spent some quality time with her and my Dad. I think it is nice to use occasions like Mother’s Day to walk down memory lane, so we went through old pictures together and made some great discoveries. I was totally amazed by one picture in particular, which shows my Mum with my Granny, who sadly past away 7 years ago and who also played a big part in my life because I spent a lot of time with her when I was a kid.

Isn’t it an awesome pic? It touched me very much because I am so lucky that I had and have this two wonderful women in my life.

Mum, I thank you  from the bottom of my heart, that you always gave me a loving home and taught me right from wrong.

I value the possibilities you enabled for me and that brought me to the happy place in my life where I am now.

I love you so much!

Remember the Maytrees…

1 Mai

…I told you about yesterday?

Boys been hard-working this night and now the city is full of this pretty proofs of love :-)

Back in my nook

30 Apr

I am so happy because my sweetheart came back yesterday from one loooong week of business travel. I noticed once again how weird it is when you are apart from eachother when you elsewise spend nearly every day together. There are so many rituals you develop…

What I missed most:

1. My nook in his arm, where I fall asleep every night

2. The good-bye kiss I give him when he is still in bed and I have to head off to work (much too early)

3. The green tea he makes for me on week-end mornings and brings it to bed

4. Throwing on the barbecue with him and he being the Grillmaster

5. His infective laugh and the sound of his voice (hearing it over the phone is NOT the same, because it sounds different)

6. His constant craving for ice-cream,  that always seduces me to get a big cone, too

(We already catched up in this point today, like you can see on the pic)

But now Baby is back, everything is good again and I am looking forward to the week-end with him.

Tonight is “Dance into May”, which is a tradition in Germany. It is the night before the 1st May (1st may is off, because it is a holiday here, but this year it is a Saturday anyway, shoot!), and there are parties everywhere. When you are a boy secretly in love, you also set a tree in front of the house of your beloved in this night. That is very cool because it is a common thing that the guys hang the trees (or big branches) with colorful banners and they look so pretty in the streets. They stay there the whole May and in June the secret admirers are suppose to come out of the closet and the trees are removed.

Because I already have a finacé I don’t expect a Maytree before my house :-) But I think we will have a very fun evening, I am really up for dancing.

What are you up for the week-end?

I am blessed!

Just came back from my Jogging track and once again I have to say I love love love the area we live in. It is a little bit outside of the center and very rural. A few years ago I would have never thought that I will live in such a quite place, because I always lived very central in Cologne. But now I really appreciate coming home and being surrounded by nature. Our direct neighbors are two riding stables, there are beautiful meadows with horses and donkeys (the donkey lady is the loudest thing here around because she cries enormously when she is upset) and the river Rhine is just nearby.

I never want to live anywhere else ever again! (Okay, never say never, but I am so enthusiastic today)

Awesome photography

9 Apr

Today I am very happy and thankful, that I can share with you pictures of a former colleague of mine, Sascha Gröhl from Vitamedia-Foto. We worked together as editors for a TV Show a long time ago and Sascha became a very successful director and photographer. When I saw his photos for the first time I was abolutely blown away. His pictures are so lively and cool. He has recently also started shooting weddings, I am so looking forward to that. But for today have a look at some of his gorgeous pics.

I love the story behind the first two shots: This guy meets his group of friends on Coney Island just to talk once a week since 1965 (!!!). Isn’t that incredible? (he holds an old picture of them, where you can see there was snow on the Island)

And that’s the Gang, how cute!

Awesome

That’s my absolute favorite pic. How cool are the poodles?

Thank you, Sascha, for sharing. Be sure to check out more supercool photography on his Website and you can also read about his filmprojects here.
